PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project consisted of two phases which were undertaken at the existing Marshalling Yard facilities for Fortescue Metals Group in Port Hedland.

Phase A required the construction of the rail infrastructure for the following areas:

  • Yard sidings
  • Storage roads
  • Workshop bypass
  • Ore car servicing roads
  • Good and bad order car storage
  • Head shunts
  • Loco and wagon unloading pad.
  • This work also included 80,000 cubic metres of bulk earthworks for the rail formation and 2.5 kilometres of drainage.

Phase B, issued as a variation to the original works, commenced in June 2013 and the variation included partial duplication of the existing railway lines as well as the expansion of the Principal’s workshop facilities, access and service roads and supporting infrastructure.
