PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This Project consisted of bulk earthworks and track installation for the southern section of the BHP Billiton railway duplication and was undertaken as a Joint Venture.

Work on the Project included 600,000 cubic metres rock excavation, 800,000 cubic metres fill and construction of a 350 man camp.

All work was undertaken alongside existing operating rail tracks, thus highlighting the need for rigid safety and monitoring processes particularly in regards to drill and blast activities.

Part way through the Project an additional package, the Homestead Siding, was awarded in acknowledgement of the performance of NRW and the Joint Venture.
